The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) enacted in 2014 requires that local Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSA) put forward groundwater sustainability plans for growers. Tracking water usage is going to become crucial.
To support this act, the Division of Regional Assistance in the Department of Water Resources (DWR) is providing funding through SGMA. There are over $150 million in funds available for projects.
Acuity Agriculture provides growers with the data needed to make the best irrigation choices and track their usage. This is invaluable as GSA's ask for grower input and request data as plans are created.
Round 1 applications open December 2021 and close January 2022.
State Water Efficiency & Enhancement Program (SWEEP) provides grants for implementing irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water. A few eligible projects include low pressure irrigation systems, pump retrofits, and variable frequency drives.
